GET CIRCULAR: Awareness raising actions on waste management practices and responsible consumption at all levels of education

The GetCircular project will deliver four jointly developed solutions addressing key challenges in sustainable household waste management and responsible consumption across the cross-border regions of Greece and Bulgaria. These include:

1. the installation of waste management systems—such as reverse vending machines, composters, and shredders—in selected municipalities and schools;
2. the development of an interactive digital platform for knowledge exchange and dissemination of best practices;
3. a Sustainable Consumption Guide tailored to education stakeholders; and
4. educational programs and training toolkits for primary, secondary, and higher education levels.

In addition, at least four of these solutions will be adopted or scaled up by organisations such as municipalities, schools, universities, and households, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact beyond the project’s duration.

The main target groups include:

• Municipal authorities in Thessaloniki and Blagoevgrad, who will implement and benefit from the equipment and awareness activities
• Students, teachers, and parents at all education levels, who will gain knowledge, tools, and opportunities to engage in sustainable practices
• Universities, which will adopt and apply sustainable waste management solutions on their campuses
