PRIORITY 1 - A more Resilient and Greener Greece-Bulgaria Cross Border TerritoryTEXTURE promotes a practical and community-driven model for reducing textile waste and advancing the circular economy in the Greece–Bulgaria cross-border area. The project responds to a shared territorial challenge: the lack of dedicated systems for textile waste prevention, reuse and repair, particularly in rural and remote communities.
The project will establish Textile Repair Centres in Nestos, Greece, and Hadzhidimovo, Bulgaria, creating local hubs where unused textiles can be repaired, reused and transformed into opportunities for skills development, social participation and environmental action. An Eco-Mobile Training Centre will bring hands-on textile repair and circular economy education to schools and communities, while a multilingual Eco-Footprint Mobile App will help citizens understand and improve the environmental impact of their textile choices.
TEXTURE combines infrastructure, education, digital tools and cross-border cooperation to encourage long-term behavioural change. Municipalities, schools, citizens, waste management bodies and textile recycling experts will work together to build a transferable model that can be adopted by other communities. The project aims to make textile reuse more accessible, strengthen local circular economy capacity, and inspire more responsible consumption across the region.
